Biography

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles was born on September 4, 1981. She was born in Houston Texas but her mother is a French speaking Creole from Louisiana. Ms. Knowles is an award winning singer and songwriter. She has also dabbled in acting, designing and creating perfumes. She showed an early love of singing and music and was performing at the age of seven in her church choir. Her stunning beauty, bootylisious body and sweet personality have earned her the admiration of men everywhere. But it was her hard work and talent that earned her multiple music awards and top selling CDs.

Her first quartet "Girl Tyme" was formed with her best friend and two other girls that they knew from high school. They practiced by singing backyard gigs and local events. Finally the group competed on Star Search. Like many who went on to super stardom, Girl Tyme lost the competition and all the girls were devastated by the blow. Her father, seeing his daughter's talent and wanting to help her reach her goals, quit his six figure job to manage her career. The groups name was changed to Destiny's Child. It was a rough road for the group who had many disappointments. One of which came in 1995 when they were signed to Electra Records, only to be dropped by the label before the release of their first CD.

Finally a break came the following year when the quartet was signed to Columbia Records. Three years later the group was a household name and their record sales were number one. It's a sure bet that whoever it was at Electra that decided to drop them were giving themselves the I'm so stupid slap. Considering that the groups debut CD went on to go Platinum and they became one of the highest selling girl groups with sales of 50 million, it is also a sure bet that Electra is still giving themselves the stupid slap.

The group released a total of seven albums together including a Christmas CD and a Greatest Hits CD. Their final "official" all new tracks CD was Destiny Fulfilled. And indeed it was. In 2003 Beyonce released her first solo CD Dangerously in Love for which she won a whopping five Grammy awards. She also tried her hand at acting, with roles in two movies that went to number one in the first week. One could say she's been successful at acting as well. Beyonce's future looks bright too, with the talent, preservation, and hard work ethic she possesses it is sure that her star will continue to rise.
