Biography

Nora Louise Kuzma was born on May 7, 1968, in Steubenville, Ohio. Her father was an abusive alcoholic and when she was twelve her mother fled their home with Traci and Traci's three sisters. The family ended up in California where she attended Redondo Union High School. Trying to deal with the abuse she suffered from her father she had a breakdown and ran away from home. She ended up living with one of her mother's ex-boyfriends and the man posed as her step father. She used an adult's birth certificate to secure a fake drivers license indicating that she was twenty-two instead of fifteen, she embarked into the industry of pornography hoping to make herself financially secure.

She created a stage name by combining the first name of her high school best friend, Traci, and the last name of her favorite actor from Hawaii Five-O, Jack Lord. She made several porn movies and modeled for many adult magazines including Penthouse in 1984 when she was sixteen. By the time she was 18, she had appeared in over twenty adult films; realizing how much money could be made from her films, X-ciement Video used clips that were edited from other footage and spliced with other films to make a whopping sixty more porn films. Lord's outlines this in her bestselling autobiography, Underneath it All. In 1986, federal authorities discovered that Lord's was underage while making porn movies and they arrested her, as well as the owners of X-citement Video, Inc. who produced the movies of the then underage girl.

The company, and the porn industry at large, was forced to remove thousands of her tapes, nude photos and magazines from the market, thereby, losing millions of dollars. Traci was not charged, since as a minor she was unable to give legal consent to perform sex acts on film for money even if she wanted to or was coerced to do so. Instead, the adult agents and producers who accepted her fake IDs were charged. Others affiliated with the films and magazines in question experienced legal troubles for years. Only one of her films, Traci, I Love You was actually produced after her eighteenth birthday, and is the only one of her films legally available in the United States. Traci is said to have produced the film herself.

Finally being able to move on with her life, she moved into mainstream TV and motion pictures. She has played roles in a number of B grade movies and major motion pictures as well and has gotten good reviews for her work. At eighteen, Lords began studying at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, and soon after, starred in a remake of Roger Corman's cult classic Not of this Earth. In 1990, her legitimacy as an actress solidified when she was cast as Wanda in Cry Baby with Johnny Depp, Ricki Lake and Iggy Pop. She made several other movies which include, Blade, Extramarital, Chump Change, Home, Frostbite, and Novel Romance. She has also appeared in several TV series, First Wave, Will & Grace and The Gilmore Girls to name just a few. She has several projects due out in the next several years, all of them with her clothes on.
